Though inherently not as dull as Utilities, this industry isn't as interesting as others like Tech and Financial. This will be relegated to secondary status in future reviews. One question for retail investors - if you are interested in DIS/The Walt Disney Company... why? What discernible advantage can an individual investor deploy that will help them profit from holding this stock, which is well-known but not necessarily a good vehicle for movement? Which, really, is what we're all looking for. Isn't it?

Though there aren't many stocks in either sub-industry, the weakening in Movie Production and strengthening in Advertising Services are clear.

Diversified Entertainment - a closer look

This is the home of DIS/The Walt Disney Company, PARA/Paramount Global, and Reddit favorite AMC/AMC Entertainment Holdings. Will the writers strike impact these stocks?

(Perhaps the closer look should be Movie Production - though there are only two stocks there. There is no advantage to focusing on a sub-industry with only two stocks. That said, as noted in the caption to the previous graphic, there is clear weakness over the past five weeks in this sub-industry.)

Diversified Entertainment has an Average strength rating and it has been stagnant for seven weeks. The three stocks listed above are at the bottom of the pack, all Weakest.

There are three stocks that are Strongest (News Corporation counts as one) - why are they Strongest while the other three are Weakest?

I don't care. The Why means nothing to me, the What everything. Guaranteed everyone in the market who is interested in positions in these stock knows more than me - AKA #everybodyknowsmorethananybody - and even if I had insider knowledge what matters is what these other people think. And I can measure this based on what the stock is doing.

A perspective that shows no consensus in Diversified Entertainment. There is weakening, though. The bottom line, there is not currently any advantage from understanding this sub-industry's strengthening status. Note per the previous graphic it has been flat for seven weeks, and weakened eight weeks ago.

Leaders and Laggards

Current strongest and weakest stocks are shown below. These are of most interest as the downtrodden are prone to large (if perhaps temporary) pops while the strongest have been leading the charge for their sub-industries.

There are only four Advertising Services companies but three of them are now Strongest, which is why the sub-industry also has the Strongest rating.
