Leisure 2023-07-18: +1 to "Stronger" strength rating (3rd strongest of 9 levels), previous move was also up
Leisure for the trading week ending 2023-07-18. The three largest sub-industries are Lodging, Resorts & Casinos, and Restaurants.

Leisure has had some back-and-forth movement over the past eight weeks but in general has been strengthening over the past seven weeks. This will be in the high secondary tier of focus industries going forward given my interest in the real estate-related Lodging and Resorts & Casinos sub-industries.

Though choppiness is evident, so is the general strengthening of the component sub-industries over the past eight weeks.

Lodging and Resorts & Casinos - a closer look

What's the state of these travel-related industries in which any self-respecting real estate fan would be interested? Let's take a look.

Lodging includes MAR/Marriott International, H/Hyatt Hotels, and HLT/Hilton Worldwide Holdings.

Resorts & Casinos includes RCL/Royal Caribbean Group, CCL/Carnival Corp., and NCLH/Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, all of which were obliterated during the COVID implosion. Spoiler alert: each of these now has a Strongest rating.

Lodging is unchanged in the past week but has strengthened over the past three weeks to Stronger - third strongest of nine levels. Six of the nine component stocks are now Strongest.
Mostly strengthening in Resorts & Casinos, which currently has a Stronger rating (third strongest of nine levels). Approximately half of the stocks have the Strongest rating, and there are no Weakest stocks.

Leaders and Laggards

Current strongest and weakest stocks are shown below. These are of most interest as the downtrodden are prone to large (if perhaps temporary) pops while the strongest have been leading the charge for their sub-industries.

Massive imbalance Strongest vs. Weakest stocks in Leisure. What exactly is DIN/Dine Brands Global doing wrong compared to seemingly every other Restaurant stock?
